The new look JV Sharks opened up the season with a road win against a vastly improved JV Aynor team 49-40. The JV Sharks opened up the new season with a completely different team. They returned only 4 players for last years team, only 1 point per game scoring from the previous season, and are out to show they have a lot to prove this season. The JV Sharks got off to a horrible start, turning the ball over, and falling behind 8-0 early! After a timeout, the Sharks calmed down and settled into the game. They trailed 8-4 at the end of the first but showed signs they were ready to start playing Shark basketball. In the second quarter, 6 different Sharks scored and they took the lead 20-13 heading into the break. The Sharks used halftime to continue to build on their confidence. Justin Bailey and Jacob Amend led the Sharks in the third quarter by combining for 15 points by themselves! The Sharks led 37-20 after the third quarter. The Sharks struggled defensively in the 4th quarter but played well enough to close out the game. They finished with a 49-40 road win at Aynor. The Sharks were led by Justin Bailey with 13 points and Jacob Amend with 12 points. Colin Dieser chipped in 6 points, Chandler Smithart and Joey Parisi both added 5 points, and Dylan Haire and Dylan Murphy both added 4 points. The JV Sharks will look to continue to build on their performance when they play Georgetown on Saturday in the JV Waccamaw Invitational.
