The JV Football team hosted Georgetown last night and picked up their first win of the year with a 19-14 victory. The defense played tough giving up only 1 touchdown and stopping a fast Bulldog offense. After an explosive start the Sharks offense stalled out on their first drive leaving the field with no points on the board. When the Sharks regained possession in the 2nd quarter they made quick work of Georgetown defense and Joey McMenamin pulled off a successful QB keep around the end for the score. Again in the 2nd quarter the Sharks marched and McMenamin scored one more time this time on a QB sneak.
In 3rd quarter the Bulldogs were driving and looking like they would take the lead but on a long pass Eddie McMenamin high pointed the ball and came down with the interception in the endzone for the touchback. After a big hit sidelined Joey McMenamin, Caleb Simpson commanded the offense and drove the Sharks late in the 4th quarter down to the 2 yard line where he took it himself in for the score. The Shark defense dialed it up a notch as the Bulldogs made a last chance effort to get in the endzone but the Sharks intercepted the QB’s pass and that ended their chances of making a comeback. The Bulldogs with time expiring caused a fumble and scooped it up and ran it in for the final points of the game. The final score again was 19-14 in favor of the Sharks. Next game is Thursday at Aynor.
Sharks offense- 150 yards rushing, 110 yards passing.
