The JV boys traveled to West Florence looking to avenge an earlier 7 point loss to the Knights. The Knights came into the game 6-0 in region play. The Knights started slowly at the beginning of the first quarter but finished the quarter strong to take a 10-9 lead after one. The Sharks came out strong in the second quarter taking a 15-12 lead with just a little over a minute to play in the half. However, the Knights ended the second quarter on an 8-0 run to take a 20-15 lead into the locker room. The third quarter saw the Sharks come out slowly and the Knights come out on fire. The Knights started the third quarter with a 10-0 run and led 30-15 late in the third. Down 15 points late in the third quarter, the Sharks finally woke up. They ended the quarter on an 8-0 run of their own and trailed 30-23 heading into the 4th quarter. The 4th quarter was owned by the Sharks. They turned up their defensive intensity and forced turnover after turnover. They held the Knights to only 3 points in the 4th quarter to tie the game at 33 and send the game into overtime. A Justin Bailey 3 pointer at the start of the third quarter energized the Sharks at the start of overtime. The two teams battled back and forth in overtime, but clutch free throws by freshman Ari Shklyar late in overtime sealed the win for the Sharks 43-38. The Sharks were led by the quartet Dillon Haire, Ari Shklyar, Dylan Murphy, and Joey Parisi. Dillon Haire had 9 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Ari Shklyar had 10 points, including 7-7 from the line in the fourth quarter and overtime, Dylan Murphy had 8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals, and Joey Parisi, who battled through injury, scored 9 points, grabbed 2 rebounds, and dished out 2 assists. Justin Bailey scored 3 points and Michael Cunia and Marcus Hawkins-Alston both chipped in 2 points. The JV Sharks knocked off the Knights, who were 6-0 in region play, to move to 9-6 on the season and 4-3 in region play. The Sharks will look to avenge another loss on Tuesday as the South Florence Bruins travel to the Shark Tank.
