The Beach Run Invitational was held this past weekend at Doug Shaw Stadium. With Prom Friday night, a small group of Sharks braved the weather and the 29 team Field that included schools from as far away as Ohio. Three ladies delivered strong performances during the two day meet. First on Friday night, Denver Caton had her best day Pole Vaulting since the State Championship last year as she flipped and turned to and 8th place finish. Denver now looks forward to the region meet where she will be breaking in a new pole. Next, placing just outside the top 8, Jasmine Ward ran the 400 hurdles for only a second time this year. Finishing 1st in her heat with a 1:14, Jasmine gained some much needed experience and looks forward to competing for a region title in this event on Wednesday. Finally, as darkness fell on Friday night, the youngest performer for the Sharks showed incredible determination in her heat of the one mile run. Zoe Mason went out with the lead pack and would at one point be running in second place before finishing with a time of 6:22 (PR) and 3rd place in the heat. Her determination was inspiring to see and tells us there will be more great things to come from Zoe.
When you see these girls, please congratulate them and wish the whole team the best as they travel to West Florence on Wednesday for the Region Championship.
