The Lady Sharks competed in the Region Championship on Wednesday at West Florence High School. The team performed great in conditions that would be at their hottest of the season up to this point and was able to place third behind West Florence and Carolina Forest. Highlights of the day were Ka’Mauri Humes placing 1st in both the 100 and 200 meters. Denver Caton placed 1st and set a New Personal Record in the Pole Vault when she cleared 9’6” on her first attempt. This makes it 11 years in a row that St James has won this event at the Region meet. Jolie McMenamin also set a New PR as well when she tied the school high jump record clearing 4’ 10” to place 2nd. The team now has 11 girls who placed in the top 5 in their respective events and will represent St. James at the State Qualifier in Columbia on May 4th. Anna Stoddard:
• 3rd place in the Pole Vault with a jump of 8’

Jasmine Ward
• 5th Place in the High Jump at 4’6”
• 4th Place in the Pole Vault at 7’6”

Jolie McMenamin
• 2nd in the High Jump and New PR of 4’10”

Nakiah Booker:
• 5th place in the 400 Hurdles, 1:17.79

Mary Karr Griffith:
• 2nd Place in the 100 High Hurdles, 18.23 (New PR)

Zoe Mason:
• 5th place in the 3200m, 15:13.14

Taylor Marotta
• 3rd place in the 3200, 14:16
