The students, staff, and administrators are in a “Frenzy” over this year’s St. James Sharks Athletics. The 2018-19 season has your sharks competing in the state’s highest classification, 5A. Our new region, 6 AAAAA, will have us competing against Socastee, Carolina Forest, Conway, South Florence, and West Florence. Tommy Norwood takes over as head football coach with a team that has a little more experience this year. Coach Denise Noll is chomping on new opponents in quest of a 4th straight State Championship Golf Title this fall with Senior Smith Knaffle returning for her 6th straight year as our number one golfer. Casey Mitchell returns as an individual state champion to lead the sharks in the pool! Our competitive cheer team has been one of the best in the state over the past several seasons under the direction of Jessica Harrell. The tennis team has been blasting balls all over the courts this summer to prepare for their upcoming matches. If you were at the beach this summer you might have caught a glimpse of some of our cross country runners and coaches getting their sweat on in the hot sand. The gym is full of energy every day with our three volleyball teams setting and spiking! This fall will be full of excitement. I encourage EVERY single student to participate in some way! Get your sports pass and come support all of our student-athletes. Check out our new clothing selections from tee shirts, to sweat shirts, to bright pink tank tops, beanies, hats, visors, and pop sockets. There will be lots of contests and fan interaction during the games. Don’t miss out on the “frenzy” that will be flowing throughout this building each and every day. As your new athletic director, I am honored to lead the Sharks into becoming the most spirited school in the state!
