The Girls Track Team Traveled to York SC to participate in the 4A Track and Field State Qualifier on Saturday. With the opportunity to advance to the State Championship there was no time to waste for the SHARKS to guarantee their season would not end. First it was Felicity Weber who qualified 3rd in the Pole Vault for the 3rd year in a row. Next Alexus would run away from the competition in the first heat of the 100m High Hurdles. When all heats were done she would be ranked number 1 going into the Finals next week. Creeping up on the competition, Alexus qualifying 1st as well in the 400 hurdles when she made a 9 second jump from her performance at the region championship to run a 1:06.62. Rounding out the last of the girls to qualify was the much anticipated 400m. KaâMauri Humes would make a big move from a pre-race State that had her ranked in the low 20âs to a spot at number 3 when she held off the competition to win her heat with a 1:00.16 (School Record) Later in the 200m KaâMauri would come off the turn and make up valuable ground on the leaders to place 3rd in her heat and 7th overall for the Sharks.
